The Full Tummy Project of Covington County is looking for new volunteers as it gears up for a new year of service.

The organization, discreetly provides easy-to-prepare foods to elementary school students who might be at risk for hunger on weekends.

Organizer Katie King said Full Tummy currently is preparing food orders, as well as contacting school administrators to get a headcount from each school.

“We will have a volunteer meeting on Tuesday, August 28, at 6 p.m. in the youth room at First United Methodist Church,” she said. “Please join us to sign up for pack days, delivery and fundraising help, and to learn more about our program.”

Pack days will be every two weeks at the First United Methodist Church.

“Packing bags is a great way for businesses, clubs and civic organizations to get involved with the project,” she said. “We will begin service to seven elementary schools after Labor Day.”
