Longtime Andalusia assistant coach Marshall Locke is excited about his first football head coaching job as he joins Monroe County.

“This has always been a career goal for me,” Locke said. “It’s exciting to be able to come in and build a program and put your stamp of approval on it.”

Monroe County finished the season 3-7 last year.

Monroe County hasn’t made the playoffs since 2003.

Locke’s coaching career spans more than two decades and most of that time was spent at Andalusia.

Locke was an assistant football coach for more than 20 years at Andalusia and was also the head girls basketball coach and golf coach.

His basketball team won the state championship in 2001.
