The Andalusia Junior High School football team has been working hard all summer to get prepared for their season this year.

Head coach John Dugger said that he expects an above average season.

“We have had a good summer,” Dugger said. “We have about 54 kids this year and they have all been working hard out there.”

This season the Bulldogs will face a tough schedule against Greenville, T.R. Miller, Monroe County and Escambia County, but Dugger said that they are looking forward to the competition.

“We usually play a lot of big, strong teams like Greenville and T.R. Miller,” Dugger said. “But we have a solid team and are ready to face them.”

Some of the players that Dugger said would be key to the Bulldogs success this season are Cameron Franklin at quarterback, Dorian Crittenden at running back and linebacker, Garrett Blackston on the line, Collin Davis at center and Mark Hart going both ways on the line.

“Those are all eighth graders that have been working really hard,” Dugger said. “I hate that I can’t name everybody, but I think those guys will be great this season.”

Dugger said that the offense this year will be pretty strong with three players coming back.

“There are three kids that will be coming back for us on offense,” Dugger said. “That is huge because that means they played in seventh grade on the eighth grade team, so I think they will do a great job.”

On defense the Bulldogs did not allow more than a touchdown a game last year.

“We have that same goal for this year,” Dugger said. “I tell them everyday to keep that in mind and make it a goal. I think we will play strong enough to reach that goal.”

The Bulldogs will take the field on Thu., Aug. 30, against the Greenville Tigers in Greenville.
