The Gantt Mafia’s Ride for Love event is scheduled for a week from today, on Sat., Aug. 25, and organizer John Zorn said that he hopes to raise $10,000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

“If weather permits we hope to have at least 85 to 100 bikes out there,” Zorn said. “Last year we only raised $6,000, but the weather wasn’t that great so a lot of people didn’t come out.”

All of the proceeds from the Ride for Love will benefit the Shriners Children Hospital Transportation Fund.

“We usually do two benefit rides,” Zorn said. “One for the Wounded Warrior Project and one for The Shriners Hospitals. We picked these two because we want to give back to the community.”

Zorn said that it will be a full day of fun, starting bright and early at 8 a.m.

“The registration will start at 8 a.m., and the first 30 people to register will receive a free shirt,” Zorn said. “After the ride we will have an auction, lunch plates for sale, live entertainment and vendors.”

The live entertainment this year will be The Four Letter Word and Scott Rogers and Phillip McClung from Issues.

This year the Gantt Mafia will be raffling off a 223 CAL AR-15.

“We will have to be careful with raffling this gun off,” Zorn said. “If you buy a raffle ticket and your name is called out for the gun then you have to fill out all the right paper work and we have to make sure that you qualify to own a gun.”

Other than the AR-15, there will be several other items that the community has donated to the auction.

“We are so blessed to have a community that helps us this much,” Zorn said. “They have always donated a lot of things for the auction every year.”

Zorn said that people are able to buy raffle tickets before the event, but they will also be available on the day of the event. The raffle tickets will cost $5.

To participate in the ride it will cost $20 per bike, plus $5 for an extra rider.

Zorn said that benefit t-shirts will also be for sale at the event for $20.

The lunch plates will cost $5 and Zorn said the menu will be tasty as ever this year.

“We have nachos, hotdogs, hamburgers, all the good stuff,” Zorn said. “We will be grilling all day.”

The event will be held at Cypress Landing R.V. Park with free admission.
