The Andalusia Area Humane Society is hoping to raise $25,000 at its 14th annual Doggie Dash Day fundraiser, set for Sat., Sept. 22.
“This past year has been filled with successes,” AAHS board chairman Kelley Fore said in a fundraising letter for the event. “Since January 2018, we have adopted 15 puppies and dogs as well as five kittens into forever homes.”
Fore said the society relies solely on fundraisers and donations to pay for utilities, insurance, vaccinations, and it slow-cost spay/neuter program.
The event will be held on Sat., Sept. 22, at the AAHS Estep Community Dog Park on Pearl St. at 9:30 a.m.
Participation is $10 per dog, and all registration forms must be filled out by Sept. 17.
Included in the entrance fee is an event T-shirt, all doggie events, pet photos, a goodie bag, face painting, refreshments and door prizes.
The doggie events are for the waggiest tail, Strut Your Mutt “Best Costume” Walk, best doggie trick, best doggie bark, and the new agility course.
This is the only sponsored event that is held throughout the year for the Humane Society. Sponsorship levels range from $125 to $1,500. Sponsorship includes recognition on Doggie Dash T-shirts, inclusion on a sponsor board displayed at the Doggie Dash event and throughout the year; in the Humane Society’s annual pet calendar and on its social media pages.
The non-profit Humane Society’s sponsorships directly benefit the whole community and the animals in need.
Registration forms can be found at the Humane Society, local veterinarian offices, or online at www.andalusiahumanesociety.org.
