The Straughn Tigers (0-1) hope for a better showing as they travel to Montgomery on Friday to take on St. James (0-1).
“First off, I expect us to play a lot better this week,” Straughn head coach John Higgins said. “We’ve got to work on eliminating mistakes and play more physical. They are going to work until they get it right. It might not be immediate, but they will keep working.”
Higgins said that St. James is a very talented team.
“They are good team that is well coached,” Higgins said. “This is a team that played Andalusia in the second round of the 4A playoffs last year and now they are playing 3A. They already have a couple of guys that have received offers from SEC schools.”
Playing smart is something Higgins said will be key for the Tigers.
“We have to play smart and get back to fundamental football,” Higgins said. “We have to limit turnovers and execute.”
Straughn and St. James are scheduled for 7 pm., Friday.
