Covington County is expected to get less than an inch of rain from Tropical Storm Gordon, according to the National Weather Service’s 11 a.m. storm update.

Local EMA Director Susan Harris said while the county appears not to be in the storm’s path, it is on the east side of the storm, where tornadoes are more likely to develop.

“Right now, we are in that green zone with only a marginal chance of tornadoes,” she said. “Unless the storm turns, we should be OK.”
