Andalusia Health has returned to normal operating procedures after the campus was closed to traffic when a suspicious package was found near the emergency room at about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said this morning, “The package that was found at the hospital was not an explosive. We are still investigating who left the package with n the parking lot. At this time I’m not going to release what the item was at this time due to the continuing investigation. The hospital is working under normal operating procedures.”

Both the APD and Andalusia Fire Department responded and set up a perimeter at the hospital, and requested assistance from the  Dothan Police Department Bomb Squad.

While the investigation was ongoing, the emergency room accepted patients through the old emergency room entrance which is now where physical therapy is located.
