Andalusia Elementary School sixth graders will be included on this week’s episode of Discovering Alabama, which airs at 8 tonight on APTV (PBS).

AES teacher Jessica Tucker said Discovering Alabama followed fifth graders from AES on their field trip to the Alabama Department of Archives and History in May.

“We are excited to bring you not only a special look into the historic wonders of the Archives, but a special look into the modern educational practices and techniques employed by the wonderful teachers and staff at Andalusia Elementary,” Discovering Alabama personnel posted on their social media page then.

In this week’s episode, Discovering Alabama reveals the amazing scope of Alabama’s collection of artifacts. It was the first state in the nation to create an archive of its history.

The episode also will air at 11 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 16.
