APD seeks help locating suspect

The Andalusia Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect who fired shots in an apartment complex on Thursday afternoon.

Deion DaShay Akins, 25, of Andalusia is wanted for receiving stolen property and discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

The APD responded to a call of a domestic dispute in the Westhaven Apartment complex on Murphree Drive at about 4 Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by the department early Thursday evening, the preliminary investigation revealed two subjects got into an altercation. One of the men retrieved a pistol from his vehicle, fired into the air and fled the scene. No one was injured in this incident.

Investigators have identified the subject who fired the shot and fled the scene as Deion DaShay Akins, 25, of Andalusia. The firearm, a 9mm pistol, was located and determined to have been stolen from Hoover, Alabama. Warrants have been obtained for Akins’ arrest. He is being charged with receiving stolen property 4th degree and discharging a firearm inside the city limits.
