Brantley takes down Wildcats

The Florala Wildcats (1-3, 0-2) gave a solid effort, but were knocked off 34-6 by Brantley Friday night in Florala.

“We came out rattled,” Florala head coach Scott Mason said. “A lot of distractions tonight and this week. We have a ton of injuries. We got back our quarterback (Jacob Hammac) tonight and played him. He was about 50 percent and he played like it. We also had two more running backs get hurt tonight so we are at the bare minimum right now.”

Play was completely stopped early in the game when Florala’s Caleb Wood sustained a head/neck injury.

A LifeFlight helicopter was called in to rush Wood to the hospital.

Mason said after the game that he had gotten good reports back from Wood and that he was moving all of his extremities.

Hammac scored on a 15-yard run for Florala’s lone score of the game.

The Wildcats return to action next week when they take on Elba in Elba.
