T.R. Miller went up early and cruised to a 25-11 victory in the second match of the day.

GAME THREE

T.R. MILLER 25, STRAUGHN 13

T.R. Miller continued the trend of taking a big lead and holding on for the win as they finished the sweep with a 25-13 victory.

“We didn’t play real good today,” Straughn head coach Daniel Rodgers said. “I thought we played well in the first set and real competed well. We just kind of laid an egg in those last two.”

Rodgers said he takes the blame for Monday’s loss.

“It wasn’t anything that the girls did wrong,” Rodgers said. “That’s just me having them ill prepared. That was just bad coaching and I promise that I’m going to get it right from here on out.”

Despite the loss, Rodgers said he was pleased with the way his girls played.

“I liked the way we competed in the first set,” Rodgers said. “We had some girls getting after it and getting down. We had some young girls stepping up. Kelsey Kelley, an eighth grader, swung real well. Probably the best she has swung all year and she has done some good things for us. We just have to find all of the pieces and I’ve done a poor job of that, but I’m going to do better.”
