The Greyhound bus station has moved from the Stop and Go gas station on MLK Jr. Expy., to Vinny’s gas station on U.S. Hwy. 29.
Crystal Booker, the communications specialist for Greyhound Buses, said that she is happy that Greyhound Buses will still be serving the citizens of Andalusia.
“We have been working with Stop and Go for a while,” Booker said. “But because of certain issues they asked if we could find another place in Andalusia and they told us very far in advance so we would have time to find another place.”
Booker said that the new stop at Vinny’s will not sell tickets, but will only be a place to be picked up and dropped off.
“We will only have online tickets and now we offer e-ticketing on our mobile app,” Booker said. “We are just glad to still be serving the city by being able to transfer to Vinny’s.”
Stop and Go owner Pete Patel said that he advised the officials from the Greyhound Bus Company to find another bus spot because of renovations coming to his gas station.
“We will be constructing a new parking lot,” Patel said. “As well as redoing the actual store. So I didn’t think it would be good for them to pick up people with everything going on here.”
Susie Carnley of Vinny’s said that she expects a lot of people to come into her store now that the bus stop is there.
“We are pretty excited to have the bus stop here,” Carnley said. “Most of the time it will be people using the bathroom or buying drinks, but that still means more people coming in.”
Carnley said that the bus stop will stop at Vinny’s three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, once at 8:05 a.m., and again at 5:05 p.m.
“Unfortunately we do not sell tickets here,” Carnley said. “It is only pick up and drop off, but you can buy a ticket online or at a full service terminal.”
The full service terminals are located in Dothan, Montgomery and Mobile.
Greyhound’s new buses offer free wi –fi on board, individual power outlets, and no middle seats.
