Residential garbage fees will increase by 33 percent in Opp in November after the Opp City Council approved an ordinance raising the fees from $15 to $20 per month Monday night.

The same rates will apply for the small businesses for which the city provides service.

In a related measure, the council approved an across-the-board, 3 percent pay increase for city employees.

Mayor Becky Bracke said it is likely the last time the council will be asked to do a flate pay increase, as she hopes to move to merit-based pay system.
