UPDATE: No school Wednesday

UPDATE, 6:30 p.m. Monday

Covington County School superintendents issued a statement at 6:30 p.m. saying that there will be no classes on Wednesday, Oct. 10, as the local area is expected to feel the impacts of Hurricane Michael.

There will be no changes to classes on Tuesday. Please note, Opp Schools are not in session Tuesday as part of their fall break.

Dr. Herb Riedel has not yet made a call about LBWCC classes.

 

First reporting, 5 p.m. Monday

The school superintendents in Covington County issued a statement at 5 p.m. Monday regarding the possible need to close schools this week due to Hurricane Michael.

“All Covington County superintendents are aware of Gov. Ivey’s state of emergency. We are currently processing data to determine how current hurricane/tropical storm reports will affect our school systems in the days to come. We will advise as soon as possible regarding school closures if applicable, possibly as soon as this evening,” the statement said.

LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel also has not yet made a weather call. Earlier Monday, he said he is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Michael, and that any interruptions of LBWCC classes or closure will be posted at www.lbwcc.edu, and on the school’s social media pages.
