The Red Level Tigers (4-3, 3-2) know a playoff spot is on the line as they prepare to take on the Elba Tigers (5-1, 4-1) on Friday night in Red Level.

“Elba is probably the best team that we have played up to this point,” Red Level head coach Kenny Skipper said. “They are big up front and they play hard.”

Skipper said the Tigers need to continue to improve.

“We have to play better and we have to play harder than we have the past few weeks,” Skipper said. “We didn’t give great effort on every play last Friday. We’ve been stressing that we have to play hard on every play. This is week eight and we aren’t going to change what we do, but we have to just get better at what we do.”

Playing with consistency is something that Skipper said the Tigers have to do.

“We have to be able to sustain drives on offense,” Skipper said. “The past few weeks we have been putting ourselves behind the chains early in drives with penalties and mistakes. We have to cut down mental mistakes and keep our defense off of the field. The guys just have to continue to believe in what we are doing and work everyday on improving. There is always something that can be improved.”

Red Level started the season off with a close loss to Class 2A Zion Chapel.

Following the week one loss, Red Level caught fire and picked up four-straight wins against McKenzie, Pleasant Home, Kinston and Calhoun.

During the four-game win streak, Red Level picked up three region wins.

Red Level had a chance to clinch a playoff spot two weeks ago, but went down 68-26 to Florala.

Last week, Red Level had a chance again to clinch a playoff spot, but fell 53-14 to Brantley.

Red Level still has a chance to make the playoffs, but they will need to get a win against Elba or Georgiana.

Elba clinched a playoff spot two weeks ago when they knocked off Brantley 26-2.

Elba had a chance last week to move into the top spot of Class 1A, Region 2, but were beaten 35-27 by Georgiana.

Elba had won five-straight games before falling to Georgiana last week.

Elba beat Opp (53-33), Pleasant Home (28-14), Kinston (38-6), Florala (60-24) and Brantley (26-2).

Kickoff between Red Level and Elba is set for 7 p.m., Friday in Red Level.
