A home at 23477 Antioch Road that was seized in a 2015 drug bust was sold at auction Tuesday morning for $37,000.
William Holland was arrested on Feb. 9, 2015, after agents with the 22nd Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, arranged to purchase a large amount of methamphetamine from Holland through an undercover operative. When Holland arrived to deliver the drugs, agents took him into custody. They found approximately seven grams of methamphetamine in his possession at that time. Holland then admitted to agents that they would find more methamphetamine in his residence on Antioch Road.
The District Attorney’s Office also filed a civil action seeking forfeiture of real property, a mobile home, and a vehicle.
Circuit Judge Ben Bowden awarded the property to the state.
District Attorney Walt Merrell said that the majority of the $37,000 would be awarded to the Drug Task Force after they pay off court costs and publication costs.
“Most of the money will be given to the DTF,” Merrell said. “Some will also be given to the participating agencies and 20 percent will go to the district attorney’s office.”
Merrell said that there are several restrictions to how the money from the sale is spent.
“The money has to be spent for legitimate law enforcement purposes,” Merrell said.
