BENJAMIN “BENJI” DEWAYNE ARMSTRONG

Mr. Benjamin “Benji” Dewayne Armstrong of McKenzie, Ala., passed away peacefully Sat., Oct. 20, at Baptist Hospital in Montgomery. He was 43.

Benji grew up in “The Garden” of McKenzie and was a member of McKenzie Baptist Church. He was employed with FedEx for 12 years until he had some medical issues arise; fortunately, and unfortunately he was thus forced to return to one of his many passions, working on cars (mechanic), with his dad at their family business located in McKenzie.

Benji was the definition of a true friend to all who knew him and would cheerfully give anyone the shirt off his back. Born and raised in a small town, Benji had a passion for riding his Jeep down long backroads that usually turned into dirt and eventually mud holes. He loved music, fast cars, and “muddin” just as all small-town boys do. He was always the one who brought a smile to everyone’s face. Benji was a beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend. Benji was an example of the biblical principle, “Love thy neighbor as yourself;” he was always happy to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Benji is survived by his loving parents, Ernie Durwin Armstrong and Brenda Sue Armstrong of McKenzie; two brothers, Shelby Ladon Gorum of McKenzie and William Clayton Gorum of Mobile; aunt and uncle Tommy and June Odom of Mckenzie; five cousins who were very close; and numerous “gran-cousins,” extended family, and friends.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., today, Tues., Oct. 23, 2018, at the Bushfield Cemetery in McKenzie; with Pastor Tyree Bowen officiating.

The family received friends from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., Mon. Oct. 22, 2018, at the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel of Andalusia. Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia has been entrusted with arrangements.

Please Join us in remembering Benji by visiting his memorial page at www.keaheyfuneralhome.com.
