The 20th Annual Opp Fest will be held this Sat., Oct. 27, and will include all of the usual attractions.

There will be food vendors, arts and crafts, games for the kids, a soap box derby, a car show and live entertainment.

The event will begin at 8 a.m., and will last until 6 p.m., on Main Street, Hart and Covington Avenue in Opp.

Mayor Becky Bracke said that her favorite thing about Opp Fest is how it brings people together.

“Opp Fest is so special because it brings everyone together,” Bracke said. “There is great food, great vendors and the car show is one of our biggest things at the event. Real car enthusiasts come to check out our car show.”

Bracke said that she thinks a lot of people will show up on Saturday for the big event.

“I hope a lot of people will come,” Bracke said. “It’s really an event where people can walk up and down the street and have a great time.”

Event organizer Pam Potter said that usually more than 1,000 people show up to the event.

The live entertainment will include Michele Norris singing the national anthem, Daniel Mock, Bobby Finedor, Lizanne Jackson and the Opp Marching Black and Gold.

The event is sponsored by the Opp Downtown Redevelopment Authority.

In conjunction with Opp Fest, The Opp Cultural Arts Center is holding its 14th annual juried art show. Winners will be announced at a reception from 6 until 8 tonight, Thurs., Oct. 25.
