The Florala Wildcats are loaded with talent and look to make some noise during the 2018-19.

“Today (Wed.), was our fourth practice of the season,” first-year Florala head coach Troy Turman said. “We expect to be successful this year.”

There has been a lot of excitement around the Florala program, Turman said.

“The kids are very motivated,” Turman said. “There has been a lot of energy, effort and excitement. They are really excited to start the season.”

Turman said the things they worked on this summer have really helped the first four practices.

“This summer really helped us out a lot,” Turman said. “The kids came into it knowing what drills we would run and things like that. We’ve been able to build off of that during these first four practices.”

The Wildcats are determined to be successful, Turman said.

“One thing that has been amazing has been their attitudes,” Turman said. “Their attitudes have been great. They love to play ball and they really want someone to coach them. They are very receptive to being coached. Another thing that I’ve been impressed with is how close they are, especially the 10th and 11th graders. They are a really close group that truly cares for each other and they enjoy being around each other.”

Turman said that he is ready to see what the season has in store.

“We are going to do our best to put a really good product on the floor,” Turman said. “From what I’ve seen so far, our strength is going to be speed and quickness. These kids work so hard to improve that I have no doubt we will get to where we want to be.”

Florala will begin the season on Tues., Nov. 21, at home against Zion Chapel.
