After serving the Covington County area from their Enterprise branch since 2003, Dayspring Hospice, LLC., has officially opened in Andalusia.

“We have been offering service here since 2003, but we haven’t had an actual store front in Andalusia,” Dayspring Hospice representative Neva Moore said. “We have just been working from our home branch in Enterprise.”

The hospice has been open in their new building since last week, but will have an open house November 27.

“We were just surveyed by the health department last week and last week we were able to open,” Moore said. “We had to wait on the survey to officially put our sign up, so that should be going up any day now.”

Moore said that most of the employees already live in the Andalusia area, so it will be better for them now.

“We will really be able to provide quality care since we all live in the community,” Moore said. “I think having a store front here will be key to serving more people.”

The hospice decided to come to Andalusia because they feel that it will open up more options for the people they serve.

“There are very few hospices in Andalusia,” Moore said. “Patients should have an option about who they go to for their services and with our being here, they will have one more option.”

Yesterday, Dayspring Hospice the City of Andalusia issued a proclamation in honor of National Hospice Awareness Month.

“With this proclamation, we are making the public aware of what good services the hospices offer,” Moore said. “It is honestly a true calling for the people that go into working for a hospice. I always say that it takes a very special person to be a hospice nurse. They have to take care of the elderly people that are in their last stages of life and they have to take care of the family as well.”

Dayspring Hospice’s main mission in Andalusia is to reach as many patients as possible, Moore said.

“The more people we reach, the more people we can provide our compassionate service to,” Moore said. “Our slogan is ‘We specialize in more good days.’ We know that we can’t change the situation our patients are in, but we can at least give them a better quality of life.”

Dayspring Hospice, LLC., is located at 1805 East Three Notch Street, Suite 4, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., to 5 p.m., but a nurse is always on call.

The ribbon cutting and open house will be Tues., Nov. 27.
