BERTHA FAY SHULTZ

Mrs. Bertha Fay Schultz, age 94, of Opp, passed away on Fri., Nov. 16, 2018, at a local nursing home.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sun., Nov. 18, 2018, at Antioch Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing the service.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Brittingham and Marie Mitchell Banks both of Opp; her son, Todd Henderson of Andalusia; grandchildren, Don Nelson, Michelle Nelson, Angie Crowell, Tammy Hutto, Blake Henderson, Bobbie Jo Harper, and Missy Gossett; 12 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Von Cartwright and Mae Ison both of Andalusia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband and father of their children, Camphbell Elastus Henderson; her late husband, George Schultz; sons, Bobby Lamar Henderson and Steve Dewayne Henderson; granddaughter, Mandy Anderson; sisters, Desi Ray Odom and Olene Etheridge; and brothers, Jessie Grice, Buddy Grice, and Hollis Grice.

MARY B. RADFORD

Mrs. Mary B. Radford, age 100, a long-time resident of Andalusia, died peacefully on Thurs., Nov. 15, 2018, at the Westwood in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

Mrs. Radford was born on Oct. 28, 1918, in Crenshaw County, Ala. She had lived in the Heath Community for over 60 years. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, in the Straughn community. Mrs. Radford was a retired nurse and had worked in private practice for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a great love for learning and enjoyed crossword puzzles and the TV show Jeopardy, which kept her mind sharp through all her years. She also spent many happy hours sitting by a pond or river fishing.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., on Tue., Nov. 20, 2018, from Mt. Zion Methodist Church with Reverend Dianne Everett officiating the service, interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to services in the church.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Shirley Radford of South Carolina; daughter, Alethea Wankowski of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Jefferson Barrow; and sisters, Verla Wheeler and Annie Leverette.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Walter B. Radford; parents, Stella Dovie Nichols Barrow and Lawrence Jefferson Barrow; brothers, Bertis Buck Barrow and Rexton Barrow; sister, Leona Bozeman; son, Rodger Radford; and daughter, Linda Allgood.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorials to be made to the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 28938 Straughn School Road, Andalusia, 36421.

GARRETT SHEAR

Mary Evelyn (Dubose) Garrett Shear, age 90, of Opp, passed from this life Sat., Oct. 27, in Greenville, Texas.

Survivors include her son: Dan Garrett (Donna) of Abilene, Texas, daughters: Cynthia; Garrett Alsup (Harvey) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Cathy Garrett Rector (Joe) of Greenville, Texas,; brothers: Jack DuBose Pugh of Enterprise and Arnold DuBose, of South Carolina, sisters: Louise Rodgers of Winter Garden, Fla., and Dorothy Kelley of Opp and sister-in-law: Dale DuBose of Opp; grandchildren: Grant Garrett (Kendra), Mack Garrett (Lindy,) John Garrett (Kimberly,) Michael Alsup (Michele,) Bryan Alsup (Jeanette,) Amy Grimes, Holly Lipsey (Charles,) Emily Alvarado (David) and 20 great grandchildren. Also many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shear was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Opp.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Caramon A. Garrett in 1978 and Earl C. Shear in 2015, parents: J.C. DuBose and Ruby Catherine Push (Lois Qualls,) brothers: Cary (Pete) E. DuBose (Quida Rhodes) and J.D. DuBose, both of Opp, and son in law: Ernest (Ernie) Alsup of Greenville, Texas.
