The first of several church-related Thanksgiving events begins tonight when the Andalusia Ministerial Association hosts its annual Community Thanksgiving Service at First United Methodist Church at 6.

The Rev. Darryl Calloway, minister of First Baptist Church Whatley Street, will deliver the message, and other area pastors also will participate.

The church is located on East Three Notch Street. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service.

On Thursday, two local churches plan to serve a total of approximately 750 Thanksgiving lunches.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will host its annual Jo’s Community Dinners. Other churches and civic organizations support this effort. Lunches will be served for dine-in or carry out from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and volunteers are preparing 500 meals. To have a meal delivered, contact the church no later than Wednesday by calling 334-222-2487.

Greentree Christian Fellowship, located on Hwy. 84 East of Andalusia, also will serve Thanksgiving dinners from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Organizers plan to prepare 250 meals.

Anyone in the local area who needs a meal delivered can call the church office at 334-427-0023 and leave a phone number and address.
