The Andalusia Police Department wants to warn citizens that scam calls are on the increase during the holidays. APD receives calls daily about these scam calls.

The latest is the caller claiming to be from the government trying to “giveaway funds for schools.” The scammer asks the caller to buy a Google Play Card to get the funds deposited to their bank account.

Chief Paul Hudson on Monday reminded citizens NOT to give any personal or financial information to anyone over the phone. Legitimate businesses, government or otherwise, will never ask for this information over the phone.
