Andalusia store closing, Opp store remaining open

The Andalusia Goody’s is closing its doors.

The last day that Goody’s will be open is December 8, but until then, everything in the store will be 50 percent off, except Nike, Columbia, fragrances and beauty. They will all be 30 percent off.

Manager Kala Wilcox was not able to comment on the reason for the closing, but she said that the Andalusia store is the only one that is closing.

Wilcox said that several customers have shown their disappointment.

“They are really sad to see us go,” Wilcox said. “It has kind of been an emotional day.”

Wilcox and several of her employees now have to find another place to work, because the Goody’s in Opp is not hiring.

“We found out that we were closing about a week ago,” Wilcox said. “At this time Opp doesn’t have anything available, so we will venture out and find different things.”

Goody’s parent company is Stage Stores, headquartered in Houston. The company operates in 42 states and has about 800 stores also under the names of Peebles, Bealls, Goody’s, Palais Royal, and Gordmans.
