First Baptist Church Whatley Street will have a local speaker for its December “Movie and a Message” event this Saturday.

Organizer Darrell Thomas said the movie will be the holiday- themed,  “The Preacher’s Wife,” and April Thrower, whose husband, Dr. Jason Thrower, is pastor of First United Methodist Church, will be the guest speaker. Mrs. Thrower is also a special education teacher.

The movie and a message series began in July. Topics have included voting rights, science careers, and the Tuskegee Airmen.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served.
