MAGGIE “RUTH” BARROW

Mrs. Maggie “Ruth” Barrow, of Red Level, passed away Sun., Dec. 16, 2018, at Andalusia Health. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., today, Fri., Dec. 21, 2018, at the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel of Andalusia with Mr. Buddy Gillman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services (1 p.m.) at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel of Andalusia. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Barrow is survived by one daughter, Amy (Edward) Gantt of New Bern, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jonathan (Blossom) Gantt of Laurel, Md., and Jared Gantt of Alamogordo, N.M.; one great-grandchild, Liam Gantt. She is preceded in death by her husband, Levrette Barrow; and her parents, William Thomas Tollison and Maggie Lee Manley.

A woman with an indomitable spirit, with a ready twinkle and an easy laugh, Ruth was a friend to all, welcoming anyone into her circle, influencing others with her timely wit, homespun wisdom, and undoubting faith. She was an optimist by choice, welcoming joys, but also facing difficulties with strength and grace, and lived each day with appreciation for its blessings.

After 30 productive years with Acousti Engineering Company, employed as a secretary and bookkeeper, she retired and moved with her husband from Pensacola, Florida, to their childhood hometown of Red Level, Alabama, where they continued life at a slower pace. Ruth and Levrette were constant companions, each other’s best friend, until Levrette’s passing two days before their 60th anniversary, in 2009.

Though love for God and her church was strong, her family received an equal measure. She was devoted to her daughter and son-in-law, and cherished family visits from her grandsons and granddaughter-in-law. In her last year of life, she reveled in the birth of her first great grandchild, Liam, and was blessed to hold him and love him in person.

Through her selfless commitments to her family, her church, and her friends, and through her active faith and lively optimism, she was an example to all and leaves a legacy to follow. She will be missed.

PATRICIA ANN BULGER COOPER

Mrs. Patricia Ann Bulger Cooper, age 76, formerly of Andalusia, passed away on Wed., Dec. 19, 2018, at her residence in Decatur, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Sat., Dec. 22, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Meadows officiating the service. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Patricia was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her children, grandchildren and beloved dog, Ghost, more than anything in the world. She was a long time resident of Decatur. She retired from Hallmark Cards in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eunice Bulger, and her husband, Edgar R. Cooper.

She is survived by her son, Donald R. Cooper of Decatur; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Cooper and David Harris, Tammy R. and Brian Alred all of Decatur; grandchildren, Christi (Sergio) Barajas, Josh Cooper, Justin Rippen, Brittany Bishop, Peyton Alred, and Parker Alred; and great-grandchildren, Emily Barajas and Kyler Alred.
