Board sells Florala property, hires 6

The Covington County Board of Education on Monday approved the sales of two parcels of land in Florala.

A lot across the street from the old Florala City Middle School was sold to Eddie Stokes, the highest bidder at $3,000.

A lot located on the corner of Eifth Avenue and Pecan Street in Florala was sold to Jeff Burleson, the highest bidder at $6,525.

In other business, the board:

• Hired Cassandra Pate, RN.

• Hired Amber Bonita Ramer, instructional paraprofessional.

• Hired Theresa Bradberry, lunchroom worker at Florala High School.

• Transferred Kimberly K. Turman from elementary teacher at Pleasant Home School to P-3 Early Childhood teacher at the central office.

• Hired Jamie F. Kelley as elementary teacher at Pleasant Home.

• Hired  Janie Lynn Short as lunchroom worker at Red Level High School.

• Hired Heidi Bedell as paraprofessional at Red Level Elementary School.

• Accepted the resignation of Vivian Edwards Willis as paraprofessional at Red Level Elementary.

• Accepted the resignation of Scott Leon Mason as general social science teacher/coach at Florala High School.
