Strong half lifts Clarke County

The Andalusia Bulldogs didn’t get what they wanted as they fell to Clarke County 52-39 on Friday night in Andalusia.

Clarke County couldn’t miss as they opened the game with a quick 9-0 lead.

Andalusia got a 3-pointer from Keaun Samuel for the first Bulldog basket of the game.

A free throw from Samuel then cut the Clarke County lead down to 9-4.

Samuel got a pair of big dunks in the opening period, but Clarke County took a 16-9 lead into the second period.

Clarke County opened up the second period strong as they went up 23-9 before a dunk from Samuel made it 23-11.

Elijah McClain came up with a steal that he turned into a layup to bring the score to 27-15.

Roosevelt Weaver picked up a couple buckets at the end of the second period, but Andalusia trailed 36-20 at halftime.

Weaver got the Bulldogs rolling in the third period with a quick basket and then a 3-poitner.

Andalusia continued to fight back as the trimmed the lead to 36-30.

However, Clarke County was able to hold of the Bulldogs in the final period as they come away with a 52-39 win.

The loss brings Andalusia to 0-2 in area play.
