Farmers Federation offers ag, forestry scholarships, funding for school groups

Local students are eligible for scholarships awarded through the Covington County Farmers Federation, president Kenneth Northey said.
Applications are available at AlfaFarmers.org through Jan. 31, Northey said.
The Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation will award one scholarship per county for $1,750 each to students majoring in agriculture or forestry at Auburn University of Alabama A&M University.
In addition, three $1,000 scholarships are awarded through the local federation.
The Alfa Foundation will award 100 $1,000 scholarships for students attending Alabama colleges, universities and technical schools.
Applicants for Alfa Foundation scholarships must be members of the Alabama Farmers Federation. Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation scholarships are avaiable to federation members and their children.
The local Farmers Federation also offers funding to chapters for FFA or FHA in Covington County. A student in the organization must send a letter to the federation requesting funding, Northey said.
