Adult Activity Center plans D.C. trip

The Andalusia Adult Activity Center has extended the deadline to sign up for a spring trip to Washington, D.C., Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, Va.

The six-day, five-night trip is set for Tuesday through Sunday, April l2-7.

The group will travel by motor coach to Lumberton, N.C., then continue to Colonial Williamsburg on Day 2. Williamsburg was the capital of the Virginia Colony from 1699 to 1780 and played a significant role in the American Revolution. Travelers will enjoy this historic district and living history museum where actors in period costume depict daily Colonial life in the streets, stores and workshops. Day 2 ends a Woodbridge hotel.

Day 3 begins with breakfast before departing to the National Mall. Travelers will have a two-day, hop-on, hop-off pass that will include the US Capitol, the White House, Bible Museum, African American Museum, Arlington Cemetery, and many, many others. Dinner will be provided at Smokey Bones.

Day 4 will also be spent at sites near the National Mall. Travelers will enjoy an evening at the Kennedy Center for a hilarious whodunit, “Shear Madness.”

On Day 5, travelers will depart D.C. for America’s birthplace, Jamestown, where they may explore the original site of the first permanent English settlement. Sites include the  Pocahontas statue and an opportunity to relive the experience through film, exhibits, and outdoor living. En route to the hotel, the motor coach will stop at Pier 41, one of Lumberton’s top rated restaurants, for the evening meal.

Travelers return on Day 6.

The trip is $1,129 for double occupancy, and $1,439 for single occupancy. The trip cost is non-refundable unless trip insurance of $150, payable with the first deposit, is purchased.  The cost includes transportation, lodging, two-day Washington, D.C. pass, dinner at Smokey Bones, admission to the Kennedy Center Theatre, Historical Jamestown, and Colonial Williamsburg, luggage handling fees and the driver’s gratuity.
