The Straughn Tigers put up solid fights, but were swept by the Slocomb Red Tops on Friday night in Straughn.

GIRLS

SLOCOMB 48, STRAUGHN 34

Straughn got off to a slow start and couldn’t come back in a 48-34 loss to Slocomb.

The Lady Tigers struggled to get much offense in the first period as Slocomb took a 15-5 lead.

Ansley Montgomery had four points for the Lady Tigers in the first period.

Straughn continued to fight, but couldn’t overcome the Slocomb Lady Red Tops.

Kelsey Kelley led the Lady Tigers with 13 points.

BOYS

SLOCOMB 62, STRAUGHN 51

Straughn took an early lead in the final game of the evening, but Slocomb battled back to pick up a 62-51 victory.

The Tigers opened the game with authority as Brantley Kelley, Trent Cleland, Tucker Reynolds and Justin Peeples helped Straughn go on top 16-15 after one period of play.

Straughn stayed up 30-28 at halftime.

In the third and fourth periods, Slocomb fought back and surged for a 62-51 win.

Kelley led the Tigers with 18 points.
