ELLIE NATHAN AUSTIN RAY

Mr. Ellie Ray, 88, formerly of Andalusia, passed away at home in Oneonta after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Rosa, Ala., and lived there until joining the United States Air Force where he served from 1950-1954, as Airman First Class. He was an Auburn University graduate in Electrical Engineering and was a proud life long Auburn Tiger fan. He retired from Alabama Electric Cooperative Exchange in Andalusia after 48 years of employment. He leaves behind a multitude of family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Fri., Jan. 25, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Herb Carlisle will officiate the service. The interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Rose Hill along side his wife Jo. Visitation will be from noon, to 2 p.m., Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his sister, Delene Moorer and her husband Conrad of Naples, Fla.; two nephews, Bryan Morton and wife Ada, Bruce Morton an wife Judy, all of Oneonta, Ala.; a niece, Wendy Moorer Seitzinger of Naples, Fla.; along with many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Sarah Ray, a sister, Annie Ray Gay and his loving wife of 54 years, Josephine Hammett Ray.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
