BRING THE BROOMS: Wildcats sweep Hobos

The Florala Wildcats picked up a pair of big wins over the Laurel Hill Hobos on Tuesday night in Florala.

GIRLS

FLORALA 51,

LAUREL HILL 31

Florala started off slow, but surged in the second half to a 51-31 victory.

Senior Taylor Mount gave the Lady Wildcats an early lead when she knocked down a 3-pointer.

In the third period, Laken Hadley caught fire from downtown as she knocked down four 3-pointers.

Hadley led the Lady Wildcats with 26 points including seven 3-pointers.

“We came out flat in the first half,” Lady Wildcats’ head coach David Bass said. “We didn’t score like we wanted to, but we fought through adversity and in the second half we shot the ball really well. We gave up a lot of points, but all-in-all I was impressed and we are still getting better night in and night out.”

FLORALA 69,

LAUREL HILL 43

In the final game of the evening, the Wildcats took a commanding lead early and cruised to a 69-43 victory.

Nealand Stone had the Wildcats rolling in the opening period as he and his teammates went up 22-4 after one period of play.

Rashaad Coleman was dialed in as he paced the Wildcats with 18 points in the win.

Stone finished the game with 12 points and Mekhi James tacked on 10 points.

“I thought we played with intensity, a lot of execution, we boxed out, made some shots early on and got off to a fast start,” Florala head coach Troy Turman said. “We came out aggressive and played with a lot of confidence early on. we played like we are supposed to play and I was glad to see that. I’m really glad to us play like we are supposed to. This was a big win because they have a very good team.”

B-TEAM

FLORALA 33,

LAUREL HILL 30

In B-team action, the Wildcats pulled out a 33-30 win in overtime.

Dylan Norman led the Wildcats with 17 points and Zane Weeks tacked on 12 points.
