Late buckets lifts Opp over Andy

The Opp Bobcats knocked down a last-second 3-pointer to beat the Andalusia Bulldogs 53-50 on Friday night in Opp.

Andalusia jumped out front 2-0 with a quick bucket from Keaun Samuel, but Opp answered with a 3-pointer from Logan Ross.

Caleb Williams came on strong for the Bulldogs as he knocked down 3-pointer and finished the opening period with seven points.

After one period of play, Andalusia was on top 16-11.

Samuel got two baskets to start the second period as Andalusia went up 20-11.

Franklin Osario then put the Bulldogs up 22-11.

It looked like the Bulldogs might begin to take control on the game, but Caleb Hinton and the Bobcats had other plans.

Hinton finished the second period with 11 points, but Opp trailed 32-25 heading into halftime.

Elijah McClain opened the third period with a bucket to give Andalusia a 34-25 lead.

Samuel followed with a layup to give Andalusia an 11-point advantage.

The Bulldogs continued to build to their lead after a pair of free throws from McClain.

Opp came charging back with a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws from Ross.

Bryan Matthews then drained a 3-pointer to cut Andalusia’s lead down to 38-33.

Matthews picked up a couple more buckets, but Opp trailed 43-37 heading into the final period.

Opp began to chip away at the Bulldog lead entering the fourth period.

Erik Matthew gave the Bobcats the lead after he knocked down a free throw with 33.6 sceonds left.

Luis Reyes tied the game 50-50 with 22.6 seconds left in the game.

With time winding down, the Bobcats found Harold King in the corner where he buried a 3-pointer for 3 seconds left in the game.

The Bulldogs attempted to go down the floor to tie the game, but the shot just missed the mark as the Bobcats came away with a 53-50 victory.
