Covington County Sheriff’s Department deputies and agents with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday afternoon arrested Ray Randall Russell, 44, at his home on Alabama 137 in the Wing community.
Sheriff Blake Turman said Russell was on the Marshals’ 10 Most Wanted List, and was wanted for Domestic Violence Strangulation in Shelby County.
“The tenacity of our local officers helped locate this suspected criminal,” Turman said. “Russell would not exit his residence on his own. The officers made a tactical entry into his residence and Russell gave up without further incident.”
Turman said the department is making the “utmost effort”
in working with other agencies to keep the community safe. “Although this man committed the crime elsewhere, we need him secured to cease his threatening actions,” Turman said. “You never know when we can help each other to bring justice to our community. I praise the officers involved and stand by them 100 percent!”
He encouraged locals to support law enforcement.
“Understand that the little things that they do, can lead to arrests of hardened criminals,” he said.
