The Andalusia City Council agreed Tuesday  night to pursue improvements at Cooper Pool.

Tommie Agee, director of parks and recreation, said he is recommending adding three 25-foot umbrellas, as well as a lifeguard shade, along with polywood furniture.

Fans will be added in the breezeway of the Cooper Pool structure, and the tile in the locker room floors will be painted, he said.

“The floors are tiled, and they are very slippery now,” Agee said. “We recommend painting with a non-slip surface paint.”

The project, for which bids will be let, is expected to cost $35,000. City employees will assemble the equipment and make the repairs.

In other business, the council:

• Reappointed Ricky Jones to the Utilities Board.
