Pleasant Home gets 12-2 win over Florala

The Pleasant Home Eagles used a flurry of hits to knock off the Florala Wildcats 12-2 on Monday night in Florala.

Josh Ruth drew a leadoff walk for the Eagles in the top of the first inning and then Hagen Hughes struck out the next two batters he faced.

Jakob Walker then came up with a 2-out single that scored Ruth for a 1-0 Pleasant Home lead.

Walker got the start on the mound for the Eagles and struck out the first two batters he faced before giving up a 2-out walk to Jacob Hammac.

Walker bounced back with a strikeout to end the frame.

Hughes appeared to find his grove in the top of the second inning as he struck out the side in order for his fifth straight strikeout.

Hughes struck out the first batter he faced in the top of the third inning before giving up a single to Ruth and then plunking James Hawkins with a 1-1 pitch.

The next batter struck out, but Pleasant Home took a 2-0 lead when Ruth stole home with two outs.

Hawkins followed with a double that put the Eagles up 4-0.

When the dust settled, Pleasant Home was on top 5-0 heading into the bottom of the third.

In the top of the fifth inning, Hawkins started the inning with a walk and then came around to score on a hit from Drew Wood.

A few batters, later and the Eagles were up 7-0.

Pleasant Home added another run in the top of the sixth inning to go up 8-0.

Florala got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single from Dylan Hobby.

Pleasant Home responded with four runs in the top of the seventh inning to go up 12-1.

Florala’s final run came with a single from Caleb Wood that drove in Lee Stewart.
