LBWCC Lady Saints fall to Lake Michigan

The LBWCC Lady Saints put up a strong fight, but fell 5-3 to the Lake Michigan College Lady Red Hawks on Thursday in Andalusia.

Lake Michigan College took an early 1-0 lead in the game in top of the first inning.

After the leadoff batter reached off of an error, then a 1-out single allowed the Lady Red Hawks to score the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Saints were able to take the lead from the Lady Red Hawks.

Lindesy Fox got the inning started with a leadoff walk, but was thrown out at second on a fielder’s choice.

The Lady Saints tied the game when Alexus Griffin drove in Millie Manring with a single to left field.

Loryn Praytor then scorched a triple to the wall in left field that allowed Betsy Powell and Griffin to put the Lady Saints on top 3-1.

Lake Michigan College responded in the top of the third inning with another strong frame.

The Lady Red Hawks used a two-out double and single to tie the game 3-3.

Lake Michigan then took advantage of a couple of 2-out errors to keep the inning alive.

The Lady Red Hawks continued to do damage with two outs as back-to-back singles put them up 5-3.

Lake Michigan College would hold off the Lady Saints in the final inning to pick up a 5-3 victory.

Praytor led the way at the plate for the Lady Saints going 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one walk.

Griffin finished the game 1-for-1 with one RBI, one run scored and one walk.

Lainey Wells was 1-for-2 with one walk.

Powell took the loss for the Lady Saints despite only giving up a pair of earned runs in four innings of work.
