ARROWS TAKE HOME TITLE: South Alabama travel ball team sweeps tourney

The South Alabama Arrows 8U captured the 2019 Travel Ball USA Springtime Splash Tournament championship this weekend in Panama City.

ARROWS 16,

HAWKS 8U 9

South Alabama opened up the tournament on Saturday with an 16-9 win over the South Walton Hawks 8U team.

The Arrows trailed early in the game, but rallied for a big win.

M.J. Berry had a clutch home run as he finished the game 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Issack Harkins led the Arrows with three RBIs.

Jackson Grimes and Row Thorn each went 3-for-3.

Cooper Maynor, Farley Brannon, Ian Kimbril, Zaidyn Leslie and Ashton Sowell had two hits each.

Houston Weant drove in two runs.

J.T. Jackson and Beau Bennett had one RBI each.

HAWKS 7U 0

In the final game of the day on Saturday, the South Alabama Arrows came away with a 15-0 win over the South Walton Hawks 7U team.

Thorn led the way going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Berry finished the game 2-for-2 with three RBIs and one run scored.

Maynor added three RBIs and two runs scored.

Grimes, Brannon, Harkins, Kimbril, Weant, Bennett and Jackson each had two hits.

Sowell and Leslie notched one hit each.

PATRIOTS 7

When play resumed on Sunday, the Arrows opened the day with a 17-7 win over the Crenshaw Patriots.

Maynor was big at the plate as he led the way going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored.

Grimes finished the game strong going 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored.

Harkins drove in three runs while going 1-for-3.

Berry finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Brannon, Thorn, Kimbril, Sowell, Bennett and Jackson had two hits each.

Weant and Leslie had one hit each.

The South Alabama Arrows continued to play strong as they wrapped up the title with a 15-6 victory over the South Walton Hawks 8U team in Sunday’s championship game.

Thorn was on fire for the Arrows as he went 3-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored.

Harkins went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.

Maynor finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs score and one RBI.

Bennett went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Brannon went 3-for-3 in the win.

Grimes ended the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Berry finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Leslie went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

Kimbril and Sowell drove in one run each.

Weant added one hit and one run.
