This year’s Little Black Dress event for the Covington County Imagination Library will feature a mind reader.
Mentalist Nick Compise will provide the entertainment for the fundraiser, set for Sat., April 13, at the Country Club of Andalusia.
Compise has been featured on TV and radio shows throughout the country for his ability to read people’s thoughts, influence their actions, and predict the future.
“The show is full of audience participation and humor as Nick captivates everyone with his abilities leaving them with one question. Your thoughts or mine?,” his website states.
Covington County Imagination Library founder Curtis Simpson said the board was looking for a mentalist or an illusionist for this year’s entertainment so the event – which has featured comedy for the past few years – would have a different twist.
This year’s LBD event will feature musical entertainment during the cocktail hour, a silent auction, dinner, and entertainment. Tickets are $100 per person, or $500 for a table of six.
The Covington County Imagination Library delivers one book per month to children in the county from birth until kindergarten, meaning that children begin school with a collection of 60 books. At present, the program serves 940 children, which costs about $2,000 per month. In addition to the annual Little Black Dress fundraiser, the organization is funded with generous contributions from local trusts and civic organizations.
The auction and cocktail hour begin at 6 p.m. on Sat., April 13, with dinner and entertainment following at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at Harold’s.
