Parenting class uses Seuss stories to teach life lessons

The AHS Parenting students recently taught a Dr. Seuss lesson to their designated class at Andalusia Elementary School. The students taught life lessons from “The Lorax” (saving the environment); “Green Eggs and Ham” (daring to try new things); and even incorporated a little science by discussing the layers of the Earth in Mrs. Battey’s 6th grade Science class.

Each student demonstrated how to make either a treat or a craft that went along with the Dr. Seuss book they chose. A lot of work went in to preparing for this lesson. The students had to write a rough and final draft lesson plan, created a grocery list of items they would need, baked cupcakes, measured ingredients, created a lesson example, and counted and bagged all items they would need for their class. The high school students now realize how much work it takes to plan for just one lesson, but the smiles on the AES students’ faces made it all worth it!

They are students of Mrs. Jana Clark.
