Thompson brings home top honors

Andalusia Isshinryu Karate’s Kila Owens Thompson recently picked up top honors at a couple of big karate tournaments.

Thompson, a graduate of Straughn High School, took part in the All-Star Nationals Tournament in Fairburn Ga., hosted by Tony Young’s All-Star Karate Academy.

In the All-Star Nationals Tournament, Thompson won first place in the women’s black belt kata.

Thompson’s strong performance continued with a first place finish in the women’s black belt weapons.

She also came in third place in the women’s black belt fighting.

Following the completion of the All-Star Nationals Tournament, Thompson headed to Greenwood, Miss., to compete in the Fury of Champions Tournament host by Southern Martial Arts, Inc.

Thompson was on top of her game in the Fury of Champions Tournament.

In the women’s black belt kata, Thompson took home the first place trophy.

Thompson continued to set the tone when she picked up a first place finish in the adult black belt weapons.

To finish off the day, Thompson came up with a clean sweep as she place first in the women’s black belt fighting.

Thompson has received a scholarship to continue her training at Bryan College’s Martial Arts Academy.

Thompson is a member of Mark Rudd’s Andalusia Isshinruy Karate.
