BULLDOGS KEEP ROLLING ON: Andalusia sweeps Wetumpka in weekend action

The No. 6 ranked Andalusia Bulldogs picked up a sweep over Wetumpka on Saturday in Wetumpka.

GAME ONE

ANDALUSIA 5,

WETUMPKA 1

In the opening game of the day, the Bulldogs got timely hits to knock off Wetumpka 5-1.

Ayden Amis walked to start the top of the third inning and moved to third on a single from Gill Morgan.

The Bulldogs then grabbed the lead when Hogan Nichols ripped a double to center to put Andalusia up 2-0.

Wetumpka got a home run to start the bottom of the fourth inning and then a hit batter put the tying run at first.

Wetumpka tried to steal second, but Nichols hosed the runner attempting to steal.

Jacob Cravey then got a strikeout and a fly out to end the inning.

Amis added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when he drove in Garrett Davis with a double.

Nichols capped off his strong game with another two-run double to put Andalusia up 5-1.

Nichols finished the game 4-for-4 with four RBIs.

GAME TWO

ANDALUSIA 11,

WETUMPKA 3

Andalusia finished off the two-game sweep with an 11-3 victory in game two.

The Bulldogs took 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Amis drove in Caleb Blackston and Gage Messick.

Andalusia added three more runs in the top of the third inning, two more in the fourth inning and four in the seventh inning to come away with the win.

J.W. Jones led the Bulldogs going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Amis added three RBIs and Chip Morgan drove in a pair of runs for the Bulldogs.
