Millry blows past Pleasant Home

The Pleasant Home Eagles saw their season come to an end after falling in the opening round of the Class 1A baseball state playoffs on Thursday to Millry.

GAME ONE

MILLRY 9,

PLEASANT HOME 0

In the opening game of the series, Millry opened up strong and held on for a 9-0 win.

James Austin Hawkins drew a one-out walk in the top of the first for the Eagles.

After a strikeout, Judd Fuqua put a solid hit on the ball, but the Millry second baseman was able to make the play for the final out in the top of the first inning.

Josh Hawkins got the first batter to fly out to open up the bottom of the first inning.

The next batter drove a single to right field for the first hit of the game.

The runner tried to steal second on a 2-0 count, but Fuqua came up firing for the second out of the inning.

Millry then got a double, but Jo. Hawkins got the next batter to pop out to Ja. Hawkins at shortstop to end the inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, Millry took advantage of a leadoff walk and then a one-out double to take a 1-0 lead.

Pleasant Home got a two-out walk from Josh Ruth in the top of the third inning.

Ja. Hawkins then came through with a single to move Ruth up to second.

Ruth then attempted to steal second, but was thrown out for the final out.

The hit from Ja. Hawkins would be the only hit of the game for Pleasant Home.

Millry was able to add runs and pull off a 9-0 win.

GAME TWO

MILLRY 14,

PLEASANT HOME 0

Millry jumped out front early as they cruised to a 14-0 win over Pleasant Home.

Millry got a single to start the game and then a double put them up 1-0.

After a couple of quick outs, Millry got a two-run home run to go up 3-0.

Ruth singled to start off the bottom of the first inning, but that would be the last hit of the game for Pleasant Home.

Millry tacked on 11 more runs for a 14-0 win.
