Straughn High School senior Dallas Mackoff will keep her softball career going as she signed her National Letter of Intent to play college ball at Judson College on Tuesday afternoon in Straughn.

Mackoff is known for her abilities on the mound, but it was her versatility in the field that makes her a big addition to her new school, Judson head coach Tom Hannah said.

“Of course her ability on the mound was something we liked,” Hannah said. “She is very talented. She will be big for us because she can play anything. We can put her anywhere in the field that we need her. Her versatility really helped. We really needed to get some more pitching and we know she can pitch. We tried her out and saw her pitch so we already knew that. Even though when she is not pitching, to have someone that can play anywhere was huge for us.”

Hannah said that Mackoff’s character was something that matches what they want from their players at Judson.

“We are an all girls, Christian and faith-based school,” Hannah said. “We really are picky about who we get because we want quality girls. After meeting her and meeting her family, that really stuck out. We knew we wanted her already, but when we saw what kind of quality individual she is that sold the deal for us and we went after her hard.”

For Mackoff, she said she is excited to continue playing softball.

“I’m just excited, but nervous at the same time,” Mackoff said. “It just feels great to be able to play and continue my career. I didn’t want to stop playing softball and it’s exciting to know that I get to keep playing for four more years.”

Mackoff said she knew Judson was the place for her after she went for a visit.

“I just liked how when I first went there, they said my name,” Mackoff said. “It was like they knew me. I felt welcome and it felt like home. I just want to thank my family and my friends for supporting me over the years and helping me make this dream come true.”
