Bulldogs ready for 3rd round battle

The Andalusia High School Bulldogs’ soccer team (13-2-1) will face off with the Montgomery Academy Eagles (22-4) in the third round of the Class 4A-5A state playoffs in Montgomery.
Montgomery Academy has been one of the top Class 4A-5A teams in the state this year.
Montgomery Academy competed in an area with Brewbaker Tech Magnet, Montgomery Catholic, LAMP, Alabama Christian and Trinity.
The Eagles finished area play with an 8-2 record.
They lost to Montgomery Catholic 1-0 in the first match of the year between the two schools before winning 3-0 in game two.
Trinity defeated Montgomery Academy 1-0 in the final game of the regular season, but Montgomery Academy won the first match 5-0.
Montgomery Academy’s other two losses came to Vestavia Hills (5-1) and Bayside Academy (3-1).
To get to the third round, the Eagles beat Holtville (8-1) in the first round and then beat LAMP (3-1) in round two.
Andalusia and Montgomery Academy have faced six similar opponents this year.
Andalusia beat Trinity 3-1 and 3-2 and Montgomery Academy split with Trinity.
Andalusia tied LAMP 0-0 and Montgomery Academy beat LAMP 3-1, 5-4 and 3-1.
Andalusia lost to Park Crossing 6-0 and Montgomery Academy beat Park Crossing 4-0.
Andalusia beat Holtville 3-2 and Montgomery Academy beat Holtville 8-1.
Andalusia lost to Montgomery Catholic 3-0 and Montgomery Academy split with Montgomery Catholic.
Andalusia and Montgomery Academy will begin tonight at 7 p.m., at Montgomery Academy.
