LAAC celebrates women, opens Thursday

The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition will open its first multi-artist show of 2019, A Celebration of Women, with a reception from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Thurs., May 9.

The show, which “celebrates women and feminine beauty” includes the work of 18 area artists.

Participating artists include Amanda Hilburn, Amy Fiindley Bowers, Andi Varner, Blakely Taylor, Genia Dorman, Jane E. Barber, Jennifer Dinwiddie, Joshua Scott, Joy Appleyard Odom, Kevin Hargrave, Liz Grossman, Mary Yates, Michelle Colbert, Peggy James, PJ Lewis, Sara Blackburn, Sara Beasley, and Toni Appleyard.

Almost all of the featured work is available for purchase, at varying price points.

In addition to the show, the arts organization has a number of classes on tap this month, including “Summertime Cow Watercolor” with Mikelyn Hammett on May 11; “May Flowers” with PJ Lewis on May 14; “You CAN Draw” with PJ Lewis on May 18; “Do Your Own Thing” with PJ Lewis on May 18; “Dot Art Acrylic Initial” with Mary Yates on May 18; and “No Drama Llama Painting” with Amy Findley Bowers on May 28. 

The  LAAC gallery is located at 209 E Three Notch Street in Andalusia.
