Andalusia Isshinryu earns top finishes

Members of Andalusia Isshinryu Karate recently competed in the Wiregrass Open Martial Arts Championships at Enterprise High School.

Mojukai Karate School in Enterprise hosted the event.

Andalusia’s Dalton Spears had a big day and brought home several top honors.

Spears picked up first place finishes in youth black belt (15-17 year old) weapons, kata and fighting. Spears also won the Youth Black Belt Kata Grand Championship.

Kila Thompson won the Adult Kata Grand Championship. Thompson also came home with first place finishes in women’s black belt weapons and kata.

Taj Patel also had a big day for AIK. Patel earned first place finishes in youth black belt (13-14) weapons and kata. Patel was second place in fighting behind Spears.

Brianna Walker came back with a first place finishes in yellow belt kata and weapons. Walker was second place in fighting.

Braydon Walker picked up a second place green belt weapons and fourth place finish in kata.

Nathan Rooker earned a second place finish in brown belt sparring.
