Man arrested in Florala with 44 grams of meth

Around 10 p.m., Monday night, Florala police officers arrested Joseph A. Martin at the Florala Tom Thumb for trafficking meth.

FPD Chief Sonny Bedsole said that the department was contacted by the Covington County Sheriff’s Department in regards to several outstanding warrants for Martin’s arrest.

“Our officers made contact with Joseph Martin at the local Tom Thumb,” Bedsole said. “After searching him we found scales in his pockets and pipes in the back seat. The passenger in the car said that Mr. Martin had the actual drugs on him and we found that in the car as well.”

Forty-four grams of methamphetamine, scales and pipes were found on Martin.

Martin is currently being held at the Covington County Jail on a $503,000 bond.
